Scout Sunday – February 5

Posted by rrclark1 on Feb 4, 2012 in Mail

Good Evening Troop 378 Scouts and Parents,

We are still on for Scout Sunday tomorrow morning at St. Margaret Mary Church. Please remember to wear your class A uniform, troop neckerchief, merit badge sash and religious awards. We’ll meet in the Suneg Center at 8:15 AM to prepare for the mass.

The snow has stopped and the city has done a good job getting the side streets plowed. It should be ok to get to church tomorrow morning, but please use your judgement and be safe. See you tomorrow morning at Scout Sunday Mass!

Yours In Scouting,

Mr. Clark

Final commitments and money for the skiing merit badge are due Monday, January 30th. The event will take place on Sunday, February 12th at Mount Crescent. We’ll be camping on Saturday, February 11th so even if you aren’t skiing you can come along and have fun.

Monday February 6th will be a Court of Honor at 7 PM in our usual meeting place. Please be ready for Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review Monday night, if needed.

Please check your basements and garages for troop tents- we’ve come up a few short and would like to have them back. We’ll be needing them, as you’ll see:

We’ll be working on the Historic Trails Award the weekend of March 23rd-25th at Fort Atkinson. More details to follow.

Spring Camporee will be April 27th-29th at the Little Sioux Scout Ranch. The theme is Orienteering so it will tie nicely with us working on that merit badge this Spring.

Yours in Scouting, Mr. Begley

Swimming/Lifesaving/First Aid MB Opportunity

Posted by rrclark1 on Dec 26, 2011 in Mail

Dear Troop 378 Scouts and Parents,

A long-time scouter, Mike Gallagher holds an Aquatics program during the winter/spring.  Scouts can earn the Swimming, Lifesaving and First Aid Merit Badges as well as fulfill all requirements needed for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class rank.
Information:
Classes begin January 13, 2012.  Sessions will be held each Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  The course will be finished by May 18; it usually takes about 12 to 14 sessions, finishing in April.  The First Aid merit badge class will be tentatively be held on Saturday, March 3, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

All sessions, except First Aid will be held at Monroe Middle School pool, 5105 Bedford Avenue. The cost will be $10 per person.

Attached is more detailed information on the program in the announcement document, a permission slip and a registration form.

This is a great program.  Several scouts from Troop 378 have participated in the past.  If you are a first year scout, or one that needs to get the swimming requirements completed for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class, this would be a great opportunity.  Also, the Swimming and First Aid Merit Badges are Eagle Required.  So attending this would help in many ways for your advancement.

For more information, please contact Mike Gallagher (telephone 402-572-9411; email: mikejgallagher@msn.com)  As of today, Mike stated today (12/26/11) that spaces are still available.

Yours In Scouting,

Mr. Clark

Posted by admin on Dec 18, 2011 in Announcements, News

Hello Scouts and Scout families:

Our meeting on Monday, December 19th will be our last meeting until January 9th, 2012.

At our meeting, we’ll have Webelos visiting again!  We won’t be running the same program, we’ll be:
* Bringing dry or canned food for the Lemon-Lime Lightning Lollipops food drive, benefiting the St. Vincent DePaul Society
* Having tent contests to see which patrol can put up a tent the quickest
* Having a Christmas Outfit Contest- if you wear a Christmas-themed shirt you won’t have to wear your Class “A” uniform
* Playing “Santa Dodgeball”- bring a Santa hat, if you have one
* Enjoying snacks and drinks- check with your Patrol Leader to see what you need to bring

And we’ll have a special Christmas magic trick!

If I don’t see you Monday night, I wish you and your family a very Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Mr. Begley
